MANILA, Philippines — Kris Aquino gave followers a glimpse into her son’s personal life as she greeted Bimby on his birthday Sunday, posting his photo with an unidentified girl after revealing her excitement over someone he described as “special.”
The image showed Bimby smiling with his arm around the girl, whose face was covered with heart emojis. While Aquino did not identify the young woman, the post quickly drew attention online.
A day earlier, Aquino shared a candid message about her son’s growing interest in someone, admitting she never expected to feel excited about that stage in his life.
“I never thought I'd be excited for the day when Bimb really likes a girl. He told me he feels she’s ‘special’ — my birthday wish for my bunso is that she does become his first girlfriend and who knows, God willing also his last,” she wrote.
She said she had been eager to prepare gifts for the girl, including flowers, balloons, chocolates, food and even matching hoodies, but said her son asked her to take it easy.
“You’ll overwhelm her because she’ll know it’s not from me but from you. Please let it flow?” she quoted him as saying.
Aquino also reflected on her son’s role during her illness, noting that he had taken on significant responsibilities while caring for her.
“Bimb has sacrificed so much to take care of me, but he doesn’t have to anymore. The best gift I can give him is to let him enjoy his youth, and let him choose his own career path,” she said.
Meanwhile, the former actress-host added she is preparing for another Rituxan infusion as part of her treatment and had postponed a work presentation to focus on her son’s birthday weekend.
She said the celebration would be spent quietly with close family, including a rare outing as she continues her recovery.
