MANILA, Philippines —Veteran entertainment journalist Danilo “Danny” Vibas died on Wednesday, April 29. He was 71.
Vibas, a longtime columnist and editor, spent decades covering Philippine show business with a direct and often blunt style. The cause of death was not disclosed.
He wrote for several publications, including The Manila Times, where he served as a columnist and assistant entertainment editor.
In recent years, he continued writing for the Daily Tribune, where he began his column on Sept. 2, 2022.
A prolific English-language writer, Vibas was also a former college professor. He was widely known among peers for asking pointed questions during media conferences and for speaking his mind openly.
He was a member of The Entertainment Arts & Media (TEAM), an organization of entertainment editors, columnists, photographers, publicists and talent managers, where he served as public relations officer.
