Singer-songwriter Jace Roque is set to release his new single “Pagbangon” under Star Music on April 10 across music streaming platforms.
Roque described the track as a personal account of renewal shaped by loss. “’Pagbangon’ is the story of my rebirth, how I used pain and despair as a fuel to reignite my burning passion.”
The artist said the song was written as a way to process the death of his uncle, actor and director Boy Roque.
“I wrote this track as a way to come to terms with the loss of my beloved uncle. He was my father figure, mentor and unofficial manager,” he said. “But I didn’t let my grief drown me in sorrow. My uncle prepared me for this. He made sure I am able to walk on my own when he’s not here anymore. So I picked myself up and fought harder than ever before.”
“Pagbangon” was arranged, mixed and mastered by Roque in collaboration with Jonathan Manalo, head of creatives, content and operations at ABS-CBN Music, who also served as producer.
Roque said the song reflects a broader message amid current challenges. “With everything that’s happening in the world right now, what we need is an uplifting anthem that will guide us through the dark times.”
He comes from a musical family that includes Gino Padilla and Luke Mijares. In 2023, Roque released the single “Casual,” followed by the album “Paradiso” in 2024.
