The ABS-CBN action-drama series “Blood vs Duty” has emerged as the most watched series on Netflix Philippines following its debut across broadcast and digital platforms.
The series premiered Monday, April 6, on ABS-CBN sa Alltv2, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live, with advanced episodes released earlier on Netflix and iWant.
“Blood vs Duty” follows agents Marcus, played by Richard Gutierrez, Lara, portrayed by Bela Padilla, and Felix, played by Baron Geisler, as they work to dismantle the spread of illegal firearms. At the same time, Jalil, played by Gerald Anderson, and Jamilah, portrayed by Barbie Imperial, become entangled in illegal gun dealing within their community.
The narrative sets up a conflict between law enforcement efforts and individuals drawn into illicit activity, highlighting the risks and tensions surrounding armed smuggling.
Viewer responses on social media have pointed to the show’s action sequences and performances. One Facebook user said Gutierrez delivered intense fight scenes, describing his action work as “Hollywood-level.”
Another user noted that Gutierrez and Anderson “show the two sides of justice and fairness,” adding that both characters offer different perspectives.
Padilla’s portrayal of Lara also drew attention from viewers, with one comment describing the character as “smart, resourceful and brave.”
Geisler’s role prompted strong reactions, with a netizen saying his performance could make viewers “get so angry it feels like your blood pressure will shoot up.”
Imperial’s character, meanwhile, has led to speculation about her development in upcoming episodes.
Some viewers also commented on the show’s subject matter, with one post on X describing the story as “timely” and reflective of current issues in the Philippines.
