MANILA, Philippines — OPM rapper Hev Abi has denied allegations of illegal firearm and drug possession following his arrest in Quezon City earlier this week, as police said he was among several individuals detained in a raid tied to a firearms enforcement operation.
His label, Urban Department, issued a statement Thursday rejecting the claims and stressing the artist’s position.
“On behalf of Hev Abi, we categorically deny any and all allegations pertaining to this misunderstanding that lead to his situation last April 14, 2026. Our legal counsel is working with the designated authorities in finding a solution. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who continues to show their support,” the statement read.
The Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Gabriel Abilla, the rapper’s legal name, was arrested Tuesday, April 14, during the service of a search warrant in Barangay Laging Handa.
Police said the warrant stemmed from an alleged violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. Authorities reported recovering a 9mm pistol, a magazine, and live ammunition during the operation conducted past midnight.
The CIDG said seven individuals were arrested in the same operation as part of an ongoing campaign against loose firearms.
In a separate report, police said they also recovered four sealed plastic bags containing what was confirmed to be cocaine, along with 11 cartridges suspected to contain liquid marijuana. Officials did not specify which items were allegedly linked to each of those arrested.
The CIDG has not released additional details on potential charges as the investigation continues.
Hev Abi is among the Philippines’ most popular rap artists, known for tracks such as “WELCOME2DTQ,” “Alam Mo Ba Girl,” and “Para Sa Streets.” He currently has about 5.1 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
