Matty Juniosa advances to ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ final after second golden buzzer

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino singer Matty Juniosa advanced to the finals of “Britain's Got Talent” after receiving a second Golden Buzzer during the semifinals, earning a direct spot in the competition’s final round.

Juniosa earned the distinction after performing Aerosmith’s “Dream On” during the April 25 (April 26 in Manila) live show, drawing a standing ovation from both judges and the audience. His performance prompted Holden to use the coveted Golden Buzzer, sending him directly to the final round.

Judge Alesha Dixon praised Juniosa’s vocal control and stage presence, describing the performance as a “masterclass,” while Simon Cowell commended the Filipino singer’s range and noted the rarity of earning two Golden Buzzers in one season.

The latest honor follows Juniosa’s first Golden Buzzer in the audition rounds, when Cowell sent him through after his rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” making him one of the standout acts of the competition.

In an Instagram Stories post after the broadcast, Juniosa thanked supporters and the show’s judges as he reflected on advancing to the finals.

“Everything’s just sinking in,” he wrote, adding, “Thank you, thank you… thank you Lord, Amanda, Simon, the whole BGT team and every single one of you who showed me so much love.”

A former contestant on “Idol Philippines,” where he finished in the Top 12, Juniosa later performed as part of the trio iDolls before pursuing music opportunities in the United Kingdom.

Juniosa now heads to the “Britain’s Got Talent” finals as a strong contender, with the winner to be decided through a combination of judges’ scores and public votes.
