Regine Velasquez sets ‘final major solo concert’



MANILA, Philippines — Regine Velasquez-Alcasid announced she will stage what she called her “final major solo concert.” 

The singer made the announcement on Instagram, writing: “F I N A L E 

The final Major Solo Concert. October 17 & 18 2026 | SM Mall of Asia Arena. Stay tuned for more details.” 

Fellow artists quickly expressed support and admiration following the announcement. 

Gary Valenciano wrote, “Sorry but I’m already starting my standing ovation for this queen. Wow…this hit me deeply. We love you.” 

Singer Darren Espanto added, “This is it, Mama Reg!!!” 

Other celebrities who shared messages included Klarisse De Guzman, Iza Calzado, Julie Anne San Jose, Jona, Angeline Quinto, Zsa Zsa Padilla and Jason Dy, as well as her husband, Ogie Alcasid. 

In February, Velasquez also spoke about struggles with anxiety tied to performing, including her guest appearance at a concert by Josh Groban. 

“It was wonderful and an honor to sing with Josh Groban last night but I was so nervous. I was so anxious the whole day I forgot to eat. Lately every single performance for me is such a struggle even doing ASAP. And it used to excite me a source of joy but now it give me so much anxiety,” she wrote. 

“I still LOVE singing I do but performing on stage………maybe it’s part of getting old I don’t know. But it’s kinda of heartbreaking,” she added. 

Velasquez, often referred to as “Asia’s Songbird,” rose to fame for her powerful vocal range and signature ballads. 

She best known for hit songs such as “On the Wings of Love,” “Dadalhin,” “Pangako” and “You Are My Song,” which helped her cement her status as one of the Philippines’ most influential and best-selling recording artists.
