MANILA, Philippines — The 52nd American Music Awards nominations were revealed with Taylor Swift leading the field with eight nominations ahead of the May 25 ceremony at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
CBS and Dick Clark Productions announced Wednesday (Manila time) that the awards show will be hosted by Queen Latifah. The ceremony, returning to CBS and Paramount+, will honor the year’s most influential artists based on fan interactions, including streaming, sales, radio airplay and touring data tracked by Billboard and Luminate.
Swift is nominated for artist of the year, album of the year for “The Life of a Showgirl,” song of the year for “The Fate of Ophelia,” best music video, song of the summer for “Elizabeth Taylor,” best female pop artist, best pop song and best pop album.
Close behind are several rising and established acts. Olivia Dean, Sabrina Carpenter, Morgan Wallen and SOMBR each earned seven nominations, while Alex Warren and Lady Gaga followed with six apiece. Breakout acts Dean and SOMBR are among the most-nominated newcomers and will compete head-to-head in major categories including new artist of the year and song of the year.
First-time nominees include Leon Thomas, PinkPantheress, RAYE and Tate McRae, among others. Teyana Taylor also secured her first AMA nomination, recognized in the best female R&B artist category following a year of high-profile acting and music accolades.
Among notable crossover entries, the vocal trio from the film “KPop Demon Hunters” — EJAE, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami — earned three nominations for their song “Golden,” including song of the year and best pop song.
In the top category, artist of the year nominees are Bad Bunny, Bruno Mars, BTS, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Morgan Wallen, Sabrina Carpenter and Taylor Swift. The new artist of the year field includes Warren, Ella Langley, KATSEYE, Thomas, Dean and SOMBR.
Album of the year contenders span genres, with nominees including Cardi B’s “AM I THE DRAMA?,” Fuerza Regida’s “111xpantia,” Bieber’s “SWAG,” Gaga’s “Mayhem,” Wallen’s “I’m The Problem,” Dean’s “The Art of Loving,” Playboi Carti’s “MUSIC,” Carpenter’s “Man’s Best Friend,” McRae’s “So Close To What,” and Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl.” For song of the year, nominees include Warren’s “Ordinary,” Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas,” “Golden” from the “KPop Demon Hunters” cast, Kehlani’s “Folded,” Thomas’ “MUTT,” Wallen’s “I’m The Problem,” Dean’s “Man I Need,” Carpenter’s “Manchild,” SOMBR’s “back to friends,” and Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia.”
Other categories reflect the industry’s broad reach. Collaboration of the year includes pairings such as BigXthaPlug and Bailey Zimmerman, David Guetta with Teddy Swims and Tones And I, Wallen with McRae, PinkPantheress with Zara Larsson, and Shaboozey with Jelly Roll. Best music video nominees include KATSEYE, ROSALÍA with Björk and Yves Tumor, Carpenter, Swift and Tyla, while tour of the year highlights major global runs by Beyoncé, Lamar and SZA, Gaga, Oasis and Shakira.
Genre categories feature a mix of established and emerging artists. Pop nominees include Ed Sheeran, Styles and Bieber on the male side, and Gaga, Dean, Carpenter, McRae and Swift among female artists. In hip-hop, nominees include Drake, Tyler, The Creator and YoungBoy Never Broke Again, while R&B categories feature Mars, Chris Brown, SZA and Summer Walker. Latin categories are led by Bad Bunny, KAROL G, ROSALÍA and Peso Pluma, while rock, country, K-pop and Afrobeats fields showcase acts ranging from Linkin Park and Luke Combs to Stray Kids and Wizkid.
Fan voting is open through May 8 via the AMAs website and Instagram, with select categories remaining open during the live broadcast.
